James Bond Week: All in my mind (X)- Mixed & Shaken, Not Stirred: Songs & Themes In James Bond Style!

   Tonight is the World Premiere of "Skyfall", the 23rd 007 film, on James Bond`s 50th anniversary since the British superspy first hit the big screen in 1962 with "Dr. No". Lia and I are loyal 007 fans ("We have all the time in the world" by Louis Armstrong from "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" (1969) was the song we used as our wedding song), so as a tribute to the world`s most famous secret agent this blog will celebrate a "James Bond (Extended) Week" until November the 1st (when the new movie is due to premiere in Greece) starting today with the 10th collection of this blog`s music column "All in my mind", entitled: 

"Mixed & Shaken, Not Stirred: Songs & Themes In James Bond Style!" 

   This time the idea was mixing covers of songs & instrumental themes from James Bond films, like "Diamonds are forever", "On her majesty`s secret service", "You only live twice", "A view to a kill", "We have all the time in the world"  and of course the intense and edgy cover of the classic James Bond theme from our very own Greek garage-rock band, The Frantic V), with tracks that might very well have been chosen for 007 movies, based on distinctive elements in their sound, similar to the ones that turned the actual James Bond songs & themes into timeless classics:
   ...dramatic and dynamic basslines, suspenseful strings, classy orchestral arrangements, excitable horns and characteristic vocals or melodies (actually, "For your eyes only" by Blondie was written as a title song for the movie under the same name, only to be rejected for the one sung by Sheena Easton).

   I have to point out that "... in this blog`s music column a fictional collection is offered, with its cover, fully conceived by me, not for downloading but only for listening (and that`s why it`s entitled "All in my mind"!!!), in the form of a playlist, through the Grooveshark player.

   The speed of transitions from song to song or any "crashes" depend on the speed of your internet connection..."

   Απόψε είναι η παγκόσμια πρεμιέρα του "Skyfall", της 23ης ταινίας του 007, στην 50η επέτειο από τότε που ο Βρετανός υπερκατάσκοπος πρωτοβγήκε στη μεγάλη οθόνη το 1962 με το "Δόκτωρ Νο". H Λία και εγώ είμαστε πιστοί θαυμαστές (το "We have all the time in the world" του Louis Armstrong από το "Στην υπηρεσία της Αυτού Μεγαλειότητος" (1969) ήταν εξάλλου το τραγούδι που χορέψαμε στο γάμο μας) και έτσι, ως φόρο τιμής στον διασημότερο μυστικό πράκτορα του κόσμου, αυτό το blog θα γιορτάσει μια "(Διευρυμένη) Εβδομάδα James Bond" μέχρι την 1η Νοεμβρίου (όταν και αναμένεται η πρεμιέρα της ταινίας στην Ελλάδα), ξεκινώντας σήμερα με τη 10η συλλογή της μουσικής στήλης του blog, που λέγεται "All in my mind", με τον τίτλο  

"Mixed & Shaken, Not Stirred: Songs & Themes In James Bond Style!"  

   Αυτή τη φορά η ιδέα ήταν να αναμίξουμε διασκευές τραγουδιών και μουσικών θεμάτων από ταινίες του James Bond (όπως τα "Diamonds are forever", "On her majesty`s secret service", "You only live twice", "A view to a kill", "We have all the time in the world"  και φυσικά τη δυνατή και κοφτερή διασκευή του κλασσικού μουσικού θέματος του James Bond, από μια Ελληνική garage-rock μπάντα, τους "δικούς μας" The FRANTIC V), με τραγούδια και μουσικά θέματα που άνετα θα μπορούσαν να είχαν επιλεγεί για ταινίες του 007, με βάση "ιδιαίτερα" στοιχεία στον ήχο τους, όμοια με αυτά που μετέτρεψαν τα πραγματικά τραγούδια των ταινιών James Bond σε διαχρονικές κλασσικές επιτυχίες:
   ..."δραματικά" και δυναμικά μπάσα, έγχορδα που δημιουργούν αγωνία, φινετσάτες ορχηστρικές συνθέσεις,  "διεγερτικά" πνευστά και χαρακτηριστικές μελωδίες ή φωνητικά (στην πραγματικότητα, το "For your eyes only" των Blondie ήταν υποψήφιο για την ομώνυμη ταινία, για να απορριφθεί τελικά για το κομμάτι που τραγούδησε η Sheena Easton).

  Θυμίζω ότι: "...σε αυτή τη στήλη προτείνεται μια πλήρης κατά φαντασίαν συλλογή, με το εξώφυλλό της, εξ ολοκλήρου έμπνευσής μου, χωρίς όμως να προσφέρεται για downloading, αλλά μόνο για ακρόαση (γι` αυτό εξάλλου και η στήλη ονομάζεται "All in my mind"!!!), με τη μορφή μιας playlist, μέσω του player του Grooveshark.

  Η ταχύτητα εναλλαγής των τραγουδιών ή τυχόν "κολλήματα" θα εξαρτώνται από την ταχύτητα της σύνδεσής σας."
