"Penthouse Pool", by Slim Aarons (Athens, 1961)

  American photographer Slim Aarons (1916-2006), famous for photographing the jet-setters and  celebrities all around the world, had the talent of "photographing attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places", as he once said. An extremely interesting fact was that he never used a stylist or a makeup artist, since his goal was to capture the "essence" of the rich and famous.

   The photograph above was shot in Athens in 1961, in the outdoor swimming pool of Paul And Alexandra Canellopoulos residence, with the Acropolis as the backround.

   It's a typical example of Slim Aarons capturing the luxury, the summertime calm mood and the tranquility of the moment, in a perfectly natural pose.

                                                                                                                    

   Ο Αμερικανός φωτογράφος Slim Aarons (1916-2006), διάσημος για τη φωτογράφηση κοσμικών και διασημοτήτων σε όλο τον κόσμο, είχε το ταλέντο "να φωτογραφίζει ελκυστικούς ανθρώπους ενώ έκαναν ελκυστικά πράγματα σε ελκυστικούς τόπους", όπως ο ίδιος είπε. Ένα εξαιρετικά ενδιαφέρον στοιχείο ήταν ότι ποτέ δε χρησιμοποιούσε στυλίστα ή μακιγιέρ, μια και ο σκοπός του ήταν να αποτυπώσει τους πλούσιους και διάσημους στην "ουσία" τους.

   Η παραπάνω φωτογραφία τραβήχτηκε στην Αθήνα του 1961, στην εξωτερική πισίνα της οικίας Παύλου και Αλεξάνδρας Κανελλόπουλου, με την Ακρόπολη στο βάθος.

   Είναι ένα χαρακτηριστικό παράδειγμα για το πως ο Slim Aarons αποτύπωσε την πολυτέλεια, την καλοκαιρινή αίσθηση χαλαρότητας και την ηρεμία της στιγμής, σε μια τέλεια φυσική πόζα.
