"Up the Down Escalator" - The Chameleons

   The Greek National Football Team lost yesterday`s match against Germany and didn`t qualify for the semifinals of Euro 2012. Well, sometimes in life things don`t go the way you want them to go, no matter how hard you try. It`s then that you feel like you`re trying to go up the down escalator...

   "Up the down escalator" was a single by the 1980`s British post-punk band The Chameleons. It was released as a single in 1983 and was also included in their debut album of the same year, under the title "Script of the bridge".

    "Heroic" vocals, typical of the post-punk bands of the time, and a powerful antinuclear message for a timeless classic from a group that reached the status of a cult band, in the footsteps of the early U2 and Echo & The Bunnymen.

    Η Ελληνική Εθνική Ομάδα Ποδοσφαίρου έχασε τον χθεσινό αγώνα εναντίον της Γερμανίας και δεν προκρίθηκε στον ημιτελικό του Euro 2012. Ε, μερικές φορές στη ζωή τα πράγματα δεν πάνε έτσι όπως θα ήθελες, όσο και να προσπαθήσεις. Και τότε αισθάνεσαι σαν να προσπαθείς να ανέβεις σε κυλιόμενες σκάλες που κατεβαίνουν...

     Το "Up the down escalator" ήταν ένα κομμάτι από μια Βρετανική post-punk μπάντα της δεκαετίας του 1980, τους The Chameleons. Κυκλοφόρησε ως single το 1983 και συμπεριελήφθηκε στο ντεμπούτο album τους του ίδιου έτους με τον τίτλο "Script of the bridge".
   "Ηρωικά" φωνητικά, χαρακτηριστικά των  συγκροτημάτων του είδους και της εποχής, και ένα δυνατό αντιπυρηνικό μήνυμα για μια διαχρονικά κλασσική επιτυχία από ένα γκρουπ που άγγιξε το status της cult μπάντας, στα βήματα των πρώιμων  U2 και των Echo & The Bunnymen.
